This is Whole Woman's Health

A response by ACN member Amy Hagstrom Miller, CEO of Whole Woman's Health, to attacks by Operation Rescue causing repeated inspections by the State of Texas.

Changing the World, One Woman at a Time

This is Whole Woman’s Health

This is Whole Woman’s Health – supporting and caring for women, one woman at a time.

This is Whole Woman's Health - clinics offering compassionate care.

This is Whole Woman’s Health - renovating facilities to better serve women with state of the art care.

This is Whole Woman’s Health - physicians seeking to join us to work in a practice with core values that declare women are the best moral agents for their choices.

This is Whole Woman’s Health – staff members who join us and use our high standards to judge care they receive in other fields for the rest of their lives.

This is Whole Woman’s Health - a place where we believe all women's stories matter.

The targeted harassment of false complaints & false allegations of Whole Woman’s Health leading to daily inspections, multiple agency reviews in clinic after clinic from Operation Rescue and their allies is infuriating, unjustified and unwarranted – and time-consuming, to say the least.  These tactics feel like 1986 all over again. One might ask, who is really the target?

These arrogant ministers of shame root through trash to gather evidence of women having abortions.  YES, abortion IS the service we provide, the legal service, for women who choose legal, safe medical care.  There is nothing illegal about having an abortion in the USA.

So, it’s not really about WWH, is it?

This campaign of shame is really about shaming women who choose abortion.

Whole Woman’s Health is dedicated to eradicating the cultural stigma surrounding the choice of abortion, the stigma around the women who choose abortion and the stigma surrounding compassionate staff who provide quality abortion care.  We are so used to standing between the stigma fueled by self-aggrandizing taunts, threats and name-calling on our sidewalks and the women we serve that we almost lost sight of who this “investigation” really targets.  This shame campaign isn’t about us.  This is about women.

We serve, we lobby, we write, we speak out, we take tremendous security precautions for ourselves and our patients. We do all we can to provide quality care, to speak up for women when they can’t speak up for themselves.  But this shame campaign isn’t about us, is it? It’s about women.

Over 50 million women.

At Whole Woman’s Health we believe women deserve respect, dignity, honesty, accuracy, and a safe, non-judgmental space to talk openly about their questions, concerns and feelings.  We offer emotional support, education, informed consent, resources, community connections and quality medical care – everything we see as essential for reducing the stigma surrounding women who believe they have a right to make their own healthcare decision when it comes to pregnancy.  So, we know this is not about us.  This is about women.

Over the next few weeks we at Whole Woman’s Health will be telling our story, the stories of women who choose to come to us, the stories of people who choose to work with us and we will be posting pictures of our own from our beautiful clinics.

Your support of Whole Woman’s Health at this time is welcome – and needed.
